  • Okefenokee Dreams 2001 CD

A CD of some of the music from the 2001 Okefenokee gathering (featuring John and Pete along with Marcel Engels, Bill Fox and Dave Brewer) has been released. One for fans of real improvisation, as the 5 musicians had never played together before apart from a couple of pairings (one fairly obvious...). A joint release from Neu Harmony and Quantum, it is available from the usual outlets.
You can still be part of the 2002 event if you hurry!

  • Hamsphire Jam CD in preperation

A double CD compilation of live material from all of the Hampshire Jam sets is to be released shortly. The Airsculpture contribution is a 37 minute edit of the hour-long main set.

  • Okefenokee 2002

There is another EM get-together in the Okefenokee swamp (Georgia, USA). Pete & John will be there along with Dave Brewer, Marcel Engels (FSP), Bill Fox and Jens Peschke (Kubusschnitt and almost every other EM group). The event is almost fully booked; see the Ricochet Gatherings site for more details.

  • Manikin 10th Birthday Festival, April 5-7 2002

Airsculpture are to play at the Manikin birthday event at the Toscana Therme spa in Bad Sulza, Germany. The event is a continutious 36 hour musical marathon. We'll be playing two sets, an ambient "wee small hours" one, and a Berlin School/Dance set at a more respectable time. More information is available at the Manikin site. A map to the venue is here.

    • Hampshire Jam - October Festival, October 27th, 2001

AirSculpture played at the "Hampshire Jam - October Festival" this year.

This was organised by Steve Jenkins after he (and many others) spotted a gaping hole in the EM gig calendar this autumn, mainly due to the demise of ELive.

The line up was: Under The Dome, Free System Projekt, Headshock (Paul Nagle/Tim Rafferty), RMI and Airsculpture,

E-mail/telephone details are given below and at http://www.lpool.demon.co.uk/octgig.htm

I'm not sure if Steve will be updating that page with reviews or photographs but we'll put up pointers to anything that we find here. To start with, a couple of reviews have been posted to the beyond_em mailing list which can be found on yahoogroups.

    • CANCELLED 3rd SpaceTranceTronic 13 Oct 2001 CANCELLED

Unfortunately this has been cancelled due to organiser problems. We are hoping that it will be rescheduled for some time in the new year.

    • 3rd SpaceTranceTronic 13 Oct 2001

AirSculpture will be playing at the next (3rd) SpaceTranceTronic night on 13 Oct 2001 at Petruskirche, Oberhofer Platz, Berlin-Lichterfelde, Germany.
Maps are available here (in German) or here (Expedia, in English)

    • Quark Soup

Quark Soup Alfa Centauri, on April 28th 2001, saw the launch of Quark Soup.
This is our first double CD, but due to the Jodrell bank material already being available (albeit in inferior quality) it is being sold for about the price of a single CD and is available from SMD.
It features music from E-Live, Nijmegen, Netherlands. Oct 1999 and Jodrell Bank Planetarium, England. May 2000.

    • New Photographs section

Two new pages have been added to the site. On the left you should see a "Photographs" menu which takes you to pages containing photographs from Okefenokee and The Jelly Leg'd Chicken. I'm tired, come a little closer :-)
    • JELLY LEG'D CHICKEN II

Another fun ambient outing for AirSculpture happened on Wednesday 31st Jan 2001. Like the last time, this was an installation style concert which seemed to go down well with the people wondering around the gallery. We have DAT stereo recordings of both gigs and we're thinking of putting some excerpts up onto our mp3.com area. Keep your eyes on the site!

    • mp3.com

We now have a page on mp3.com. John has put up the following tracks:

You'll also find some additional information about the tracks and "Song Stories" for Stranger Tractors and Glimpse.

    • JELLY LEG'D CHICKEN

At last we played a gig in Reading! Wednesday 4th Oct 2000 at the Jelly Leg'd Chicken Art Gallery, The Oracle, Riverside.
As predicted this was a completely different style gig to any of the previous ones that we have done. We started at about 5pm and went on through until 8pm. Most of that time the Nords were doing most of the work with us tweaking and changing patches. Occasionally all three would synchronize and result in a quite heavy blast of ambient noise/music. We played for about the last 25 minutes, taking control of the Nords and blending the sounds into a little bit more of a performance.
It was great to see so many people interested in the music and the musicians, we weren't sure if people would like it or hate it or even notice it! As it turns out, all the comments were positive and we even sold a couple of albums.
Many thanks to all those who turned up and we hope to do it again sometime.
Oh, and yes we did tape it but we haven't decided what to do with that yet :-)

    • Jodrell Bank, E-Live, New album

May 13th 2000 finally saw what we consider our best gig yet at Jodrell Bank. Playing along side Kubusschnitt, we not only played a stonking set but also managed to get decent multitrack and ambient recordings.

The Ambient recording, made by Tony Sawford, has been released as part of the latest Jodrell Bank CDR compilation available from SMD . The multitrack recording will probably be released as part of a new double (maybe triple, we're still looking into this) album along with our recording of E-Live from last year.

    • Fjord Transit

      Fjord Transit

Well, despite our best efforts to get everything for this album done on time, nature managed to throw an unexpected spanner in the works wth an earthquake in Taiwan where our CDs were being pressed. Dave Law and ourselves were biting our nails right to the last minute, waiting to see if they could deliver on time despite the forces of nature. Fortunately, they managed to do it and we launched Fjord Transit at E-Live on October 9th.

Click on the icon above for details.

    • E-Live

E-Live, the ever popular replacement for the KLEM, took place on October 9th 1999.
We had an absolutely amazing gig, opening with our Nord noodle which went down a storm.
Those of you lucky enough to attend and lay out the cash for the ticket CD will also be the proud owners of yet another previously unreleased track by us called Hub.
John's Review Pages have more details on what we thought about it.
Many thanks to all those who attended and put up with our antics.

    • Euro-Sonic '99

On July 3rd We played at Euro-Sonic '99 on the small island of Valö.
We recorded the concert and are currently in the process of putting the finishing touches to the CD which should be on sale at e-live.
For a taste of the atmosphere and a glowing review, hop on over to John's Review Pages.
Details of this and future Euro-Sonic concerts can be obtained from Winfrid Trenkler's Klangschaften (Phone/Fax: +49 4283 787).

    • Previously unreleased Track on Harmonized Sampler

      Harmonized

A previously unreleased track can be found on the new SUB_HARMONIZED CD. This is another sampler, this time from SMD on the Neu Harmony label.

    • Thunderhead

      Thunderhead

Thunderhead was released at E-Live weeked on the 17th October 1998. You can, of course, obtain the album from SMD and all other good EM outlets.

    • GoldTri Vol 1

      GoldTri Vol 1

A track was donated to the GoldTri V1 compilation CD (see the GoldTri Vol 1 page for more info). It is called "Sargasso Sea" and is be acompanied by other tracks from members of the GoldTri group. More information about GoldTri and an archive of postings to the group can be found at the Goldtri Archive

    • Another program (the alfa centauri) has been added to the concerts page. Not as wordy as the last few!

    • A couple more program covers and the text of the second Jodrell Bank Program interview have been added to the concerts page.

    • New links to SMD reviews have been added in the albums section for Impossible Geometries, Attrition System, Europa.

    • New Concerts Page

We have started to put up some more about our previous live performances, including the interviews which we did for the concert programs. You can read the first two of these in the new concerts section.
      More are on there way!

    • >Is There Anybody Out There...?

      Is there anybody out there?

Champagne Lake Productions, Synth Music Direct and AD Music Ltd have teamed up to bring you a superb collection of tracks from the current leading lights of the UK electronic music scene.
      >Is There Anybody Out There...? has tracks from the likes of RMI, Redshift and yours truly! Well worth investigating if you are trying to make your mind up about some of the new names around.

    • Truth Or Dare

      Truth or Dare

We were asked to contibute to the 3rd in the series of X-Files inspired CD albums published by Groove Unlimited (formerly Cue Records Nederland) called Truth or Dare. We decided to team up with Kees Aerts to produce one of the fullest and fattest sounding tracks on the album.

We also attended the 'Truth comes Alive' launch concert for the album, at which we had a great deal of fun.

    • New Album

      Europa

The latest Airsculpture album Europa will be available from the 28th June. Europa is a live recording of the Airsculpture performance at The 4th Alpha-Centauri festival, Huizen, March 1st 1997.

This is undoubtedly our best performance to date. The CD did indeed go on sale at the Jodrell Bank gig, but wothout the cover artwork! Many people bought the CD as it was so Dave will be sending the artwork to them seperately. Before you get confused about the track timings don't worry, they are wrong! We suggested that an index point may be a good idea half way through the first track, instead a new track was started!! We're sorry about this, hopefully it'll be fixed on the next pressing but we don't know when that will be yet. You can regard these as collectors items perhaps ;-)

    • Jodrell Bank Concert

We played Jodrell Bank Planetarium again on June 28th. Go to Johns Concert Reviews section to see what we thought of it.

    • Track Name Competition

The eventual winner of the competition to name a track on Impossible Geometries was Phil White from Walsall. The winning entry was (of course) "Amazonian Lepidoptera Theorise on Chaos".
Many thanks to all those who entered.

    • Big City Bash

We played a short set at the Big City Bash in Derby on June 23rd, along with Michael Shipway and Bekki Williams. Thanks to all the people who came to see us there, it was a great afternoon.

    • Soundscapes

We also appeared on Ashley Franklins "Soundscapes" programme on May 12th (the programme is broadcast regularly on Sunday afternoon on BBC Radio Derby) where we announced the winner of the Attrition System competition and played a selection of our favourite bits of music. Thanks to Ashley for inviting us on and thanks to all those who tuned in to listen.

    • Albums

Our first album, called Impossible Geometries, was released September '95, in time for the EMMA III Festival.

The second album, Attrition System, was released on May 18th '96 at the Jodrell Bank planetarium concert.
Both can be ordered from David Law at Neu Harmony or Cue Records NL, EUROCK Online and ProgTron.

    • EMMA

We played at the third EMMA festival on September 2nd '95 in Sheffield, UK and were quite taken aback by the fantastic reception everyone there gave us. It was our debut live performance and so we had no idea had things would go. As it turns out, we really enjoyed ourselves and it seems the people there enjoyed it too! Ashley Franklin from BBC radio Derby interviewed us during the day and this was broadcast a little while after the event.

Our thanks to the members of the EMMA committee as it was then for giving us the opportunity and the support for what was a truly memorable event.
